Haringey Community Action Network (HCAN) is a network of local groups, including trade unions and community groups, united around the aim of promoting closer working between the various groups active in the borough.

Groups in the network include Haringey Trade Unions Council (TUC), as well as community groups covering a wide range of areas, including housing, food, migrant support, fighting poverty, climate justice and others.

HCAN was launched in September 2022 with a kickoff meeting held at North London Community House in Bruce Grove. 200 people attended and heard presentations from several trade unions and an introduction from each group affiliated with the network.

The next step for HCAN is a workshop event planned to take place on Sunday 11th June at the Alevi Centre, 19 Clarendon Road, N8 0DD. The event will include workshops on the following topics, led by the local groups working in each of these areas. Those who attend the event will be able to join two of these workshops:

  • Campaign Against Poverty
  • Climate Action
  • Housing
  • Migrant Justice
  • Public Services including NHS
  • Trade Unions – building community action and support.
