Courier Strikes in Brazil and London

Posted: May 10, 2024

🏍️ In February 2024, couriers working for Deliveroo, UberEats, JustEat and Stuart took part in the largest strike action ever seen in the gig economy in the UK. The strikes were organised autonomously by couriers themselves.

There have also been large strike movements over recent years in Brazil. Galo, a Brazilian courier and leader in their recent strike movement, is currently visiting the UK to meet with striking couriers in London.

➡️ Join us on Wednesday 15 May for a discussion with Galo and leaders from the strike movement in the UK, as well as members of IWGB and Notes From Below.

We’ll be hearing about what’s been happening in Brazil, reflecting on the recent strikes here, and discussing how to harness the momentum of the strikes to build power amongst gig economy couriers in the UK, as well as how external militants can show solidarity and get involved in the struggle.
